New Kilpatrick is a congregation within the Church of Scotland. It is Reformed and Presbyterian. As part of the National Church, it has responsibility not only for its members but also for people within its parish who do not belong to any other church. As part of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, New Kilpatrick is sympathetic to the ecumenical movement and participates in local and national initiatives to deepen relationships with other denominations and to heal the divisions within the church. God is at the heart of New Kilpatrick. This is evident in our worship. Regular opportunities for worship are provided on Sundays, Wednesdays and special occasions. The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated regularly. Members of other denominations as well as children are invited to receive the bread and the wine. All ages are invited to participate in the life of New Kilpatrick. Opportunities for educational and spiritual development are available for everyone. The gifts of young and old are harnessed for the good of all. Bridges are being built between the different age groups and between kirk and community. There is a strong emphasis on caring for others. Minister, elders, parish visitors and members offer a ministry of friendship. Groups have been established to cater for children, adults and older people. Imaginative initiatives are undertaken to provide a warm welcome, a stronger faith, a living, loving community. The strength of our kirk lies in Christ and his outward –looking ministry to the world. New Kilpatrick takes its responsibilities seriously. It responds generously to appeals for help. It is committed to the Third World. It is determined to play an effective part in renewing the life of the church and strengthening the valuable contribution it can make to the well-being of our society and world. Above all, New Kilpatrick is a kirk at peace with itself – aware of its past and confident of its future. Roots grow deep and the vision is constantly being renewed. A rich heritage, sensitive development, a generous spirit, a congregation characterised by laughter and love are the gifts of God to a people alert and alive to the work of his Holy Spirit. David D. Scott.
